Suter Earns First-Team NHL All-Star Selection
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Almost a year to the day Ryan Suter signed a long-term contract to come to the Minnesota Wild, he received one of the top honors in NHL hockey.
Suter was named Wednesday to the 2012-13 NHL First All-Star team as one of the top defensive players in professional hockey. He's the first Minnesota Wild player to be voted onto the postseason NHL First All-Star Team and joins Jonas Brodin, who was selected to the All-Rookie Team.
Suter led all NHL players and set a franchise record by averaging more than 27 minutes per game on the ice. He finished the season with four goals and 28 assists to rank second in assists and third in scoring among NHL defensemen.
He was also a finalist for the Norris Trophy, which goes to the NHL's top defenseman.
