Nat'l Teams Assess Storm Damage in 4 Minnesota Counties
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Members of the Department of Public Safety Homeland Security and Emergency Management division (DPS-HSEM) will assess storm damage in four Minnesota counties this week.
The counties that will be visited include Aitkin, Carlton, Crow Wing and Pine counties.
Local emergency teams from each reported significant damage during storms the week of July 10.
The preliminary estimates, which account for damage only to public infrastructure, ranged from $300,000 in Aitkin County to $1,138,000 in Pine County.
Teams will visit the counties Monday, starting with the most damaged first. DPS-HSEM will be in Pine County Monday, Carlton County Tuesday, Aitkin County Wednesday and Crow Wing County on Aug. 22.
At this time, the damages do not meet federal requirements for FEMA's public assistance program. However, they could qualify for funds through the Minnesota State Disaster Assistance Program.
Gov. Mark Dayton has already approved state disaster assistance for Blue Earth, Itasca, Nicollet counties and Leech Lake Reservation.
