Stillwater School Board To Vote On Closing 3 Elementary Schools

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Stillwater School Board is scheduled to vote Thursday on whether or not the district should close three elementary schools.

The district wants to close Withrow, Marine and Oak Park schools, saying enrollment at the schools is low, and there's more growth in the southern part of the district.

But parents say they were led to believe a $97 million bond, which was approved, would keep the schools open.

Superintendent Denise Pontrelli said the bond money will help with improvements and building a new elementary school in the south where the population is growing.
