ELBOW LAKE, Minn. (AP) — Republican state Sen. Torrey Westrom plans to announce his bid for the U.S. House on Thursday.
Westrom has scheduled appearances in Moorhead and his hometown of Elbow Lake.
Westrom, who is blind, plans to run in western Minnesota's 7th Congressional District. The seat has long been held by Democratic incumbent Collin Peterson.
Westrom was first elected to the Minnesota House in 1996 and last year was elected to the state Senate. He lost his sight at age 14 in a car accident.
