State Patrol: Motorcyclist Killed In Little Canada Crash

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A motorcyclist from Blaine was killed Wednesday afternoon after a sideswipe collision with a vehicle in Little Canada, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Officers responded to the crash at about 12:03 p.m. on Interstate 35E near Highway 36. When they arrived, an investigation showed that a 2002 Audi S4 was heading northbound in the left lane of I-35E near County Road B when a 2005 Suzuki motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed.

The motorcycle changed lanes to the right and passed the Audi, then cut sharply back to the left. The Audi cut to the left lane and clipped the motorcycle. The motorcyclist lost control and was ejected.

The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as 23-year-old Robert T. Nelson. The driver of the Audi, a 57-year-old White Bear Lake man, was not hurt.

The Ramsey County Sheriff's Office assisted the State Patrol at the scene.
