State Patrol: Alcohol Detected In Fatal Rollover Crash Near Elko

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An 18-year-old woman was killed and two others were hurt in a rollover crash Saturday morning on Interstate 35 south of the Twin Cities, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

Authorities responded to the crash at about 3:32 a.m. Saturday on I-35 near Elko. When authorities arrived, a 2005 Honda Civic had rolled, killing a female passenger. The driver of the car, a 29-year-old Lakeville man, suffered non-life threatening injuries. A 26-year-old man from Lonsdale, who was also a passenger in the car, suffered non-life threatening injuries.

"We are investigating the role that alcohol may have played, but it really is a microcosm of what we talk about every day with not drinking and driving, importance of seat belt use, you know all those things we try to enforce every day," said Eric Roeske with the Minnesota State Patrol.
