Small Fire Forces Evacuation At Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities say a small fire forced a brief evacuation of part of a concourse at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport Monday morning.

Crews were called to an area near Gate 6 on the G Concourse at the airport at about 5 a.m. after a smoke detector and sprinklers went off. Some smoke was seen in the area, and authorities evacuated about 20 people for a short time.

Airport officials said one flight moved to a different gate as a result of the incident, but that was the only flight impacted. The people evacuated were allowed back into the concourse before 6 a.m.

There were no injuries in the incident and operations at the airport were back to normal by about 6 a.m. What caused the fire is under investigation.
