Sheriff: CO Poisoning Kills Man, 27, In Meeker County

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 27-year-old man died Wednesday and a 21-year-old woman was hospitalized after carbon monoxide in their western Minnesota home on Wednesday, according to the Meeker County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities were called to the 62000 block of 200th Street in Greenleaf Township on Wednesday. When officers arrived, they found a man dead in the home. A woman was also taken to Meeker Memorial Hospital before being transferred to Hennepin County Medical Center.

A preliminary investigation indicates the man died of carbon monoxide poisoning. Investigators located multiple generators being used at the home for heat and electricity.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Litchfield Fire Department, Gold Cross Ambulance and the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office.

The name of the victim has not been released.
