Restauranteur To Baldies: Have A Free Meal
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Looking for a free meal? Today might be your day. The catch: you have to be bald.
On Friday, Blue Plate Restaurants are offering the promotion at all seven of their locations -- Longfellow Grill, Edina Grill, 3 Squares, Highland Grill, Groveland Tap, Scusi and The Lowry.
"Why not give 'em a break," reasoned Stephanie Shimp, co-owner of Blue Plate Restaurants. "Everyone has a wacky holiday that we celebrate. Famous Dave has his Dave's Day. We thought, why not celebrate bald guys?"
One look at co-owner David Burley confirms how they came up with the promotion.
"I haven't seen a hairdresser in a long time," confessed the chrome-domed Burley. "I've saved hundreds of dollars on shampoo."
If you're follicly-challenged, you can get any meal up to $15 for free at any Blue Plate eatery. Depending on how much is left on your scalp, you may still qualify for some level of discount.
"Ideally you'd be bald as a cue ball, but if you're not quite there yet, we're willing to work with you" said Shimp. "We'll have to get out the Bald-O-Meter and do a little measuring."
Shimp joked that the Bald and Free Day is sometimes a little surreal, as customers walking in find themselves among a disproportionately bald crowd.
