1 Dead, 1 Hospitalized After Crash On Renaissance Festival Road

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- One woman is dead and another is hospitalized after a single-car crash on a Renaissance Festival service road Saturday morning.

The Scott County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened just before 7 a.m. on a service road west of Highway 41 in Jackson Township.

Emergency crews arrived to find two severely-injured and unresponsive women. The driver was extricated and airlifted to Hennepin County Medical Center. The passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Minnesota State Patrol and Shakopee police are assisting in the investigation. Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol was involved in the accident, but they say both women were not wearing seat belts. Their identities have not been released.
