U Of M Regents Approve Freezing Undergrad Tuition
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) — The University of Minnesota Board of Regents on Friday approved a $1 billion biennial budget that includes a tuition freeze for in state undergraduates.
"The conversation this year, as you well know, is one around holding tuition fixed for Minnesota in state resident undergraduate students. A zero percent increase for them," Kaler said.
Kaler said he wants $91 million more for the two year cycle. That's an increase of about eight percent.

The funding request also includes $11.5 million in the second year of the biennium for an "accountability fund."
That money would be released if the university awards more degrees, boosts financial aid and maintains research and development spending.
