Police Warn Mpls. Residents Of A/C Unit Thefts

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minneapolis Police Department is warning residents living in north Minneapolis of the increase in the theft and damage of air conditioning units.

According to police, during the past month, there five air conditioning units have been damaged. Police say recyclable materials from the units are then sold.

Police advise residents to be alert to strangers loitering outside homes, lurking in alleys, near garages -- especially if the home is vacant -- and alert the authorities of suspicious activity.

Anyone who has information about the burglaries, call the 4th Precinct Property Crimes Unit at 612-673-5714.
