Police Seek Public's Help In Finding Mpls. Kidnapping Suspect

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Minneapolis Police have new information Tuesday about a man who lured a 7 year-old girl away from her North Minneapolis home.

Investigators are circulating pictures of the man who allegedly talked the child into leaving with him.

It's believed someone out there knows who he is, that's why they are looking for the public's help.

Top investigators within the Minneapolis Police Department are working this case around the clock.

After re-interviewing the 7 year-old girl, they've learned new things about the man who walked up and asked a group of children if they would help him find his puppy.

"We believe that he is a very dangerous man and we need to get him off the streets," Deputy Chief Kristine Arneson said.

Police gained new information about this man, caught by a neighbor's security camera.

"They left walking south on James and walked out of site. They got into a vehicle and drove away. He was driving a dark green small or mid-sized car with four doors," Arneson said.

The suspect is a white male in his mid-thirties.

He was wearing a dark jacket with horizontal stripes, possibly gray or white, across the chest.

Investigators believe he took the girl to his home.

"At the location that day the little girl was brought to there were two large dogs, one white and one black. And she described them as being his dogs," Arneson said.

Investigators say less than two hours after she went missing, the suspect dropped the 7-year old off not far from her home.

"One of our officers saw this little girl walking down the street about two blocks away from her house. The suspect had driven her back to the area and dropped her off," Arneson said.

"If you would please turn yourself in my investigators would like to talk to you. We would like to know your side of the story. So please turn yourself in. Everyone is going to be looking for you. We're going to be looking for you and we will find you," Arneson said.

Arneson says this is a good time to remind parents or caretakers of children to talk to them about stranger danger.

If you have any information about the suspect, you can provide investigators with an anonymous tip by calling 612-692-TIPS or 612-692-8477.
