Police Offer Reward In Minneapolis Arson

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- The Minneapolis Police Department Arson Unit announced Thursday it will offer a reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in connection with an arson that took place July 2.

Authorities are offering up to $6,000 for the culprit of the arson, which occurred at a residence on East Lake Harriet Boulevard, was once owned by current Governor Mark Dayton. Dayton has not owned or lived at the residence for about 20 years, but the residence was occupied at the time of the incident.

It isn't clear if Dayton's ties to the residence played a role in the crime. Governor Dayton and lawmakers couldn't come to a budget agreement by the end of June, leading to a state government shutdown that started July 1. Investigators said they are exploring all motives and leads in the case.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-8477.
