Study Highlights Important Role Parents Play In Teens' Driving Habits

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Parents always worry about their teens when it comes to driving.

Now, new research shows that parents can play an important role in keeping kids safe by talking with their teens, then formalizing -- and enforcing -- a family agreement about driving rules.

Teens with explicit family rules were more likely to wear their seat belt every time and were less likely to drive distracted or speed.

The study also showed it helps when parents have good driving habits themselves.
