Musicians Express Sadness Over Loss Of Osmo Vanska

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Tuesday marks the 1-year anniversary of the lock out of musicians with the Minnesota Orchestra.

After performing an educational concert at Hopkins High School, Tim Zavadil got emotional talking about the impact Osmo Vanska had on them. Vanska resigned from his post as a conductor and leader of the Minnesota Orchestra on a self-imposed deadline, saying he would quit

"We have built up what has become the golden age, under his leadership," Zavadil said.

Tony Ross said he was hopeful that there could be a resolution to the dispute.

"Obviously we acknowledge some issues, which is in our proposal, which has major concessions it," Ross said.

After one year, the lock out is taking its toll. Marcia Peck plays the cello.

"It's horrible. We all have mortgages, and children in college," Peck said.

The musicians said they are getting financial help from various groups supporting their cause.
