Museums To Exhibit 'Most Authentic' Rembrandts
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) -- The North Carolina Museum of Art will show an exhibit of Rembrandts that curators say has the most authentic works from the artist's American collections that have ever been assembled.
"Rembrandt in America" will open Oct. 30 at the museum, which organized the exhibit. It will open at the Cleveland Museum of Art on Feb. 19, 2012, and at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts on June 24, 2012.
The exhibit will explore how American collectors desired Rembrandt paintings, creating critical research about the Dutch artist's work. It will include more than 30 authenticated paintings by Rembrandt on loan from private collections and more than two dozen American art museums.
Americans began collecting Rembrandts in the late 19th century, when wealthy industrialists began acquiring his works.
