Minnesota Unemployment Rate Stays At 3.7 Percent But Jobs Up

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Minnesota's unemployment rate is stuck at 3.7 percent for the eighth straight month.

The Department of Employment and Economic Development reported Thursday that the March rate matches one on the books since August, which is considerably below the national average.

Minnesota's job growth rate of 1.9 percent is slightly lagging the national average of 2.3 percent over the past year. That said, Minnesota gained 7,800 jobs last month and has about 51,000 more jobs now than it did a year ago.

The education, health care, trade transportation and utilities, government and manufacturing sectors all added jobs in March. Professional and business services as well as construction were among those that shed workers.
