Minn. GOP Says It Reached Deal With Landlord
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — The Minnesota Republican Party says it has a deal with its landlord to make up for missed rent and avoid being evicted from its headquarters.
Party chairman Pat Shortridge says Monday night that the confidential agreement with Hub Properties will be finalized in a week. It came on the eve of a court hearing where the landlord's eviction notice was to be heard. Shortridge says the hearing won't happen now.
The debt-ridden party hadn't paid its rent for several months and owed the property company more than $100,000.
Shortridge has said the party was paying too much and had too much space for its needs. The GOP has almost two years remaining on its lease.
