Mills Concedes 8th District To Nolan
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Republican Stewart Mills says he has called Democratic Rep. Rick Nolan to congratulate Nolan on winning their race for northeastern Minnesota's congressional seat.
Mills and Nolan vied in a race that attracted millions of dollars from outside the state.
The 8th District is seen as one of a dwindling number around the country that are true swing territory. Nolan edged Mills by a little more than 1 percentage point — or about 3,600 votes out of some 265,000 cast.
"I've given Congressman Rick Nolan a call this morning to congratulate him on his victory, and extend my thanks for a hard-fought race," Mills said in a statement.
Mills, whose family runs the Mills Fleet Farm chain of outdoors/farm supply stores, was making his first run for public office.
