Man In Small Plane Crash Dies
WINSTED, Minn. (WCCO) -- Authorities say one of the two people involved in a small plane crash in Winsted, Minn. Monday afternoon has died.
According to the McLeod County Sheriff's Office, 80-year-old Robert Kooiman, of Eden Prairie, was piloting a Hoffmann Model HK 36R Super Dimona with 54-year-old Randall Kooiman as his passenger.
The plane was traveling from Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie to the Winsted Airport when it crashed into a cornfield about a 1/4-mile away from the airport, according to authorities.
The crash happened after 3 p.m. Both were flown to Hennepin County Medical Center.
On Tuesday morning, the sheriff's office said that Robert Kooiman had died of his injuries. The condition of Randall Kooiman was not released.
The Federal Aviation Administration is currently investigating the crash.
