Man Charged With DWI After Woman Falls From UTV

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 33-year-old northern Minnesota man is accused of DWI after a woman was severely injured when falling out of a UTV he was driving.

Dustin Sipe, of Taconite, faces one felony count of criminal vehicular operation and one count of third-degree driving while impaired, the Itasca County Attorney's Office said.

The charges stem from when Tammy Jo Manning fell out of the Polaris Ranger that Sipe was driving. She suffered severe head injuries and had to be airlifted to a hospital. She is still being treated for life-threatening injuries.

At Sipe's first court appearance on Monday, bail without conditions was set at $20,000. He was also allowed to be released given he go under home monitoring, keep off alcohol and drugs, and remain law abiding.

Sipe's next court appearance is slated for Aug. 15.
