Man, 25, Pleads Guilty To 2 New Year's Eve Robberies

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 25-year-old man pleaded guilty Thursday to trying to rob a Roseville Quiznos on New Year's Eve with a sawed-off shotgun, among other crimes.

Michael Luedtke pleaded guilty to two counts of robbery in federal court before Judge David S. Doty, the Department of Justice said.

In his agreement, Luedtke admitted to walking into the sandwich shop on the morning of Dec. 31, 2011, and demanding all the cash in the register.

But before any cash was handed over, the store's manager ran from the store. Luedtke chased him into the parking lot, grabbed him, aimed the shotgun at his head and said: boom.

Luedtke then fled – without any cash - in a stolen car, the department said.

Hours later, he drove to a Newport Subway and robbed it of $154.

For his crimes, Luedtke faces a maximum penalty of life in prison. His crimes carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, the department said.
