Local Music Tap: 'A Tribe Called Red,' 'Tall Paul' & 'Rez Rap' @ Triple Rock

This Saturday night, the Triple Rock Social Club will be filled with electronic music, hip hop and rap inspired by the music and culture of the aboriginal people of Canada -- and Minnesota's Ojibwe.

The headliner act, A Tribe Called Red, is an Ottawa-based DJ trio that creates a unique mix of electronic dance music with traditional pow wow vocals and drumming. If you haven't heard their hit "Electric Pow Wow Drum," I'd suggest giving it a try, because you may not have heard anything like it.

ATCR includes two-time Canadian DMC Champion DJ Shub, DJ NDN and DJ Bear Witness. Their mission: championing their heritage and speaking out on aboriginal issues, while being on top of popular music, fashion and art.

Special guests and openers of the evening include Minnesota-based Tall Paul and Rez Rap.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Tall Paul is an up-and-coming rapper/emcee whose music video for his song, "Prayers In A Song," has over 200,000 hits on YouTube. Check out his music here.

Hip hop group Rez Rap hails from the heart of the Red Lake Indian Reservation in northern Minnesota. Check out their Facebook page here.
