Kylie's Kid: Unstoppable Owen
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- At 5 years old, Owen has some big plans for the future.
"When I grow up, my first work is going to be driving a train," Owen said. "Maybe a diesel train."
But that's not all he has planned.
"My second job is going to work at a restaurant," he added.
On top of all that, he also wants to be...a pirate.
"I'm a BIG fan of trains and pirate ships," Owen said.
Owen is all about planning, even while he's at Masonic Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.
Owen has T-cell Lymphoblastic Lymphoma, which is a lot for even adults to remember.
"When he was first diagnosed, we had to explain to him what was wrong," said his mom, Kristen.
His dad told him that he had a "cancer bug" inside of him.
It didn't take long for the name to stick.
"The cancer bug is still inside me," Owen said.
He explains that his lung was "crumpled."
"It wanted to give the cancer bug a little space," Owen says.
With his adorable and outgoing personality, the 5-and-a-half-year-old has become a favorite on his hospital floor.
"He's fun, he's outgoing," Kristen said. "He doesn't mind talking to anyone. He doesn't stop talking, he doesn't stop playing, doesn't stop ever."
Owen has chemotherapy through April.
But for him, the real excitement is that he turns 6 on March 23 and is planning a pirate birthday party.
