James Sewell Ballet Performs 2 Collaborations At The O'Shaughnessy
The James Sewell Ballet will present a two-part performance including two collaborations at The O'Shaughnessy at St. Catherine University's this weekend.
The ballet opens with a "Octet," a piece performed with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
The piece features eight musicians playing the music of Mendelssohn's Octet for Strings in E-flat major, Op. 20 behind eight dancers.
This portion of the ballet will be performed at the Ordway Concert Hall on Feb. 18.
The second portion of the show will feature McKnight International Choreographers Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar.
Dancers will perform Eyal and Behar's work "Killer Pig," a piece described as intense, delicate and full of passion.
"These two distinctive pieces will connect with and move audiences in different ways," the company's Artistic Director James Sewell said. "Killer Pig has a unique dialect of movement that explores our collective humanity."
Performances will take place Friday through Sunday. Show times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets cost between $24 and $32.
