Investigators Believe Arsonist Started Fires In Winona

WINONA, Minn. (WCCO) -- Fire investigators think there may be a serial arsonist in Winona. In the past six weeks, there have been three fires in the same Winona neighborhood.

The most recent one happened on Tuesday in an apartment building. Fourteen people were forced out and many of them had to use an outside stairway to escape.

Investigators don't know how the fires started. All of them started in the early morning hours before dawn. They do know two of them started on the outside of the buildings and one was started in a basement that had been broken into.

Anyone with information on the fires should call Winona Area Crime Stoppers at 507-457-6530 or the Minnesota State Fire Marshal's Arson Hotline at 1-800-723-2020
