Initial Cold Spring Shooting Suspect Re-Arrested On Stalking Charges

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – The man arrested and released last year following the violent death of a Cold Spring police officer is once again behind bars.

Ryan Larson, 34, was taken into custody on a bench warrant for allegedly violating the terms of his release after surrendering on charges of stalking and harassment. Police say Larson allegedly called his ex-girlfriend's employer in an attempt to get her fired.

Larson was charged earlier this week, and posted bail following the initial surrender. The terms of Larson's release stipulated that he was to obey a no-contact order with his ex-girlfriend.

The Wright County Attorney's Office says Larson was arrested because he failed to turn in his guns and permit to carry. His bail conditions required him to do so within 24 hours of his release. The attorney's office said he didn't do that, so a new warrant was issued for his arrest.

Larson appeared in court Friday morning. A judge set an additional bail amount of $5,000. If Larson posts that amount, officers would go home with him to collect his guns and his permit to carry. The conditions of the initial $10,000 would also remain in effect.

Last November, Larson was arrested on the night of Officer Tom Decker's murder. Larson spent four days in jail before being released. That case is still under investigation.
