Deputy Injured After Squad Hydroplanes, Rolls
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A Crow Wing County deputy found himself Tuesday night in a ditch after his squad hydroplaned and rolled over.
The crash happened just after 7 p.m. on Highway 371, near Colombo road. Deputy Nathan Smolke was the only person involved.
The sheriff's office says Smolke was going north on the highway while responding to a medical emergency. But when his squad hit standing water on the roadway, it went east into a ditch and rolled over.
Smolke suffered minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
