Minnesotans Protest Agriculture Company At State Capitol

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – Dozens marched at the Capitol Saturday afternoon as part of a nationwide protest of the company Monsanto.

Monsanto is an agriculture company that works with farmers around the world.

They provide seed for things like corn, cotton, fruits and vegetables.

However, those marching Saturday said Monsanto's genetically modified foods can lead to serious health conditions such as cancer, infertility and birth defects.

"These are species that have never been part of the human diet, never been part of nature, and they've been released without our knowledge and getting in the food supply," board member from Right To Know Minnesota, Jim Riddle, said.

The group Right to Know Minnesota is working to get legislation passed that foods with genetically modified organisms be labeled.

They also want people to boycott Monsanto owned companies that use GMO's in their products.
