State Patrol: Alcohol A Factor In Hwy 52 Crash That Killed Girl, 16

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 16-year-old girl from southern Minnesota died in a head-on crash on Highway 52 Thursday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 55-year-old Cindy L. Mueske, of Ashland, Ill., was driving northbound between Fountain and Chatfield when she crossed over the centerline just before 9 p.m.

Mueske then struck Kaitlyn H. Hansen, of Canton, head-on.

After hitting Hansen, Mueske's truck went into a ditch and rolled. Mueske was ejected from the car. She suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Hansen was killed as a result of the impact.

The Minnesota State Patrol says alcohol was detected in Mueske's system. The fatal crash is still under investigation.
