Gay Marriage Ban Foes Tap Kriesel For TV Ad
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The campaign trying to defeat Minnesota's proposed constitutional ban on gay marriage is releasing a new TV ad featuring John Kriesel, a Republican state lawmaker and a military veteran who lost his legs in Iraq.
Minnesotans United for All Families released its fifth ad Friday. The group pushing for the ban, Minnesota for Marriage, has aired four ads.
The newest ad shows part of Kriesel's speech against the amendment on the floor of the House of Representatives in 2011. He was one of only four House Republicans opposed to putting the issue on the ballot.
In the speech, Kriesel paid tribute to Andrew Wilfahrt, a Minnesotan and a gay man killed in Afghanistan in several weeks earlier.
