Friends Severely Injured In Limo Crash On Road To Recovery

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Two of the most severely injured passengers in an October limousine accident are on the road to recovery.

Ten friends were on their way to a haunted tour in Cottage Grove when police say the limo they were riding in bottomed out at one of the entrances.

Two separate cars crashed into the limo, badly hurting some of the passengers.

"Just the bottoming out of the limo, that's kind of what like made us all alert like something was wrong," Hannah Linderholm said.

Longtime friends Hannah Linderholm and Jamie Marshall said they were looking forward to a night of carefree fun at a haunted tour, but instead the limo they were riding in was struck, twice.

Linderholm's injuries were the most serious.

"It was so surreal watching the car come at highway speeds, you know, straight for me. Couldn't do a single thing," Linderholm said. "I'm thankful that I'm still alive."

Glass shattered all around them. Linderholm was thrown forward. A scar above her left eye is still visible. She's had two surgeries and will need more.

"I got pinned in the car, broke my orbital bone and nose, bleeding everywhere and just went unconscious," Linderholm said.

Marshall says her leg was crushed by the impact. She sees a doctor three times a week to clean and dress her wound.

"All of a sudden he put it in reverse, and then all of a sudden I looked up and I saw headlights coming," Marshall said. "I thought I was going to die, especially after the second time."

And while both are on the mend, this experience is something they say will live with them forever.

"It's been really scary and I think I'm kind of traumatized from the whole thing," Marshall said.

There is more to this complex case. The passengers want the limo owner's insurance to cover their medical bills.

The attorney for the limo owner said they're not at fault and should not be held liable.

Attorneys on both sides are sorting that out.
