Fire Damages South Mpls. Grocery Store
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Some businesses in the Uptown area of Minneapolis had to be evacuated due to a fire overnight.
A fire forced people out of the Lyndale Grill and Grocery and The Bulldog, near the corner of Lyndale Avenue and 26th Street.
The fire started late last night in the basement of the grocery store. That business sustained some heavy fire damage, as well as some heat damage, some of which made it up to the ground-level floor.
Firefighters said they believe it will be able to be fixed up. The Lyndale Grill and Grocery will be closed until those repairs are made.
The neighboring businesses -- the Bulldog Restaurant and Bar and Treehouse Records -- both had minor smoke damage but should be open for business Monday.
Several people in some upstairs apartments were evacuated but they were back in their homes Monday morning.
