'Fighting Farmers' Deploy Friday For Afghanistan Mission

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Nearly two dozen "fighting farmers" from the Twin Cities will head off to support Operation Enduring Freedom.

The 22 soldiers are part of the Argi-Business Development team that will help Afghan farmers become more efficient at growing and selling their products.

The National Guard soldiers will live in Afghanistan for one year.

A deployment ceremony for the team takes place at 3 p.m. Friday at the St. Paul Armory.

The soldiers will head to Indiana for a month of training before heading to Afghanistan.
