Located in the St. Paul neighborhood of Lowertown, CHS Field is easy to get to if you're a Twin Cities resident. The ballpark has a 7,210 seating capacity, perfect for games, festivals, concerts and other events. The baseball stadium has an interesting history. Named after Cenex Harvest States (CHS, Inc.), a global agricultural cooperative in Inver Grove Heights, CH Field has become a major Twin Cities community and corporate events center. CHS, Inc. was instrumental in the development of CHS Field. Of course, the field retains its original purpose as a major baseball park for minor league games in Minnesota. For the record, the Chicago White Sox was once a Minnesota minor league team.

The Saints 2016 Game Season

The Saints kicked off their season in May with an exhibition game with Sioux Falls. Still, Saints fans will have ample opportunity to see plenty of games at the stadium. A great way to celebrate the Saints and Independence Day is on July 4. Who the opposing team will be begs the question. Other games for the season are posted on the CHS Field events calendar. On Labor Day, September 5, the Saints wrap up the season with post-game fireworks after playing against Lincoln.

The 2016 Game Season For Minnesota Minor Leagues

Before the Saints, other Minnesota minor leagues hit the stadium mound. The action started in April, when the Hamline University Pipers confronted UM Morris. Soon afterwards, local high school minor league teams such as Simley, Washburn, St. Agnes and St. Croix stepped up to the plate. A series of American Legion games take place on June 19, 20 and 22. The season closes with the minor league division and series championship competitions, which run from September 7 through September 19. Before the closing, the minor league season will be celebrated with a day of draught beer. Check the website's calendar for the date or call the CH Field box office.

Buying Game Tickets

Tickets to games and other events can be purchased by phone, online or in person at the CHS Field box office on Broadway St. Online tickets are $1.50 more per ticket. Tickets purchased by phone are $1.00 more per ticket order. The box office has hours for game and non-game days. Saints season ticket holders can take advantage of ticket discounts. For seasonal regular single-game tickets, the berm option is the best bet. The berm is a large grassy hill behind left field and above the bull pen. Tickets are $5 per person and must be purchased directly at the box office on the day of the game. For luxury seating away from the mound, a $130 Securian Club seat will buy a picturesque view of the field and lavish refreshments. The minor league calendar has several Securian Club corporate and private game events. Many corporations purchase a Securian Club membership. Fans interested in game watching with friends and family, but who don't want to join the Securian Club, can buy group tickets or a 9-Game Mini Pack.

Senior Citizen Game Discounts And Events

Many seniors love to attend the "Field Of Dreams" games at CHS Field. AARP members are eligible for game discounts. In addition to games that star teams from Twin Cities, CHS Field has other events for Minnesota's AARP members. August 10 will be an AARP movie night in the park, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Commuting And Parking

Six parking ramps are at the intersections of 7th and 4th St., 7th and 5th St. and 7th and 6th St. Four parking lots are on Wall St., which is between Broadway and Wacouta St. As can be expected, parking spaces fill quickly whenever there is a game, concert or special event. The CHS Field website has a convenient trip planner for drivers and commuters. Taking the bus or green transit line is the most convenient way to get to CHS Field. Public transit to this destination is free and saves the time and expense of looking for parking.

Attractions And Dining

The St. Paul Farmer's Market and the Lowertown Dog Park are two major attractions in Lowertown. This section of St. Paul also has a fascinating public art collection and a locally iconic art gallery that produced many artistic pieces for Lowertown, CHS Field and other sports stadiums. Considered the birthplace of Twin Cities, Lowertown has hip bars and restaurants such as Barrio Tequila Bar, Black Dog Coffee & Wine Bar and Bulldog Lowertown. Once a struggling neighborhood, Lowertown has bounced back with art festival walks, live music fests and community events and concerts. Many take place at CHS Field.
