DPS Announces New Method Of Invalidating Driver's Licenses & ID Cards

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Clipped corners on invalidated driver's licenses will soon be a thing of the past.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety announced Tuesday that the way driver's licenses and identification cars are invalidating is changing.

On Monday, July 6, licenses will now be perforated with the word "VOID" on the left side of the card by the photo. The change is being made so that Minnesota is compliant with federal law.

All Minnesota cards will be processed this way to reduce errors.

The requirements for invalidating a driver's license will remain the same.
