Cyclists Efforts Work, Velodrome In Blaine Will Stay Open
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – An effort to save Minnesota's only outdoor bicycle race track has worked.
The National Sports Center in Blaine says it will re-open the Veldrome sometime in May.
The center had considered tearing down the 25-year-old wood track because the repairs would be too costly.
After local cycling advocates raised $100,000, the sports center agreed to move forward with the badly needed structural repairs.
They should keep the track open for the next five years.
