1-Year-Old Suffers Life Threatening Injuries After Crash On Highway 59 In Northwestern Minnesota

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 1-year-old has life threatening injuries after a car crash in northwestern Minnesota late Friday night.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Chevy Venture Van was traveling northbound on Highway 59 around a curve in the roadway in Lake Grove Township around 11 p.m.

The driver in a Pontiac Gram Am was 33-year-old Adam Lian and the passenger was 33-year-old James Berg, both have non-life threatening injuries.

Lian was driving in the opposite direction, on the same stretch of road, when the Chevy crossed the center line.

The Chevy attempted to cut back to the right side of the road. However, a media release says Lian tried to avoid the Chevy by entering the Chevy's lane – the two vehicles then collided head on in the middle of the road.

The driver of the Chevy was 28-year-old Alexandria Brown, and the passengers were 20-year-old Talia Brown, 24-year-old Kenneth Peake-Rogers, and four children under the ages of three.

A 1-year-old is in the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and the other passengers have non-life threatening injuries.

Law enforcement reported that road conditions were snowy and icy at the time of the crash.

Several of the passengers were taken to Mahnomen Health Center for treatment.
