Best Late-Night Food In Minneapolis
Late-night fare has typically meant ordering a greasy pizza or searching down a local street vendor selling ballpark franks. But not anymore. Kiss those scrounging days goodbye -- the Minneapolis scene is taking late-night cuisine to a whole new level.
Sure, many of these late-night joints aren't really for the "after-bar" crowd, but if you're looking for a great way to spend the wee hours of the night, you can't go wrong in any of these fine establishments.
Haute Dish
119 Washington Ave. N.
Minneapolis, MN 55401
(612) 338-8484
Website
Haute Dish, located in the North Loop neighborhood, has been wowing diners with its warm, inviting meals kicked up to a new level. Take the steak and eggs -- it's steak tartare and egg in a hole with a bloody mary that's part oyster. Or the namesake dish, the tater tot haute dish. Forget the casserole pan, this baby comes as braised short ribs with potato croquets. Haute Dish serves a full menu until midnight, Mondays through Thursdays and until 1 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
112 Eatery
112 N. 3rd St.
Minneapolis, MN 55401
(612) 343-7696
Directory | Website
The food coming out of the kitchen at 112 Eatery is some of the best I've had in Minneapolis. Nay, the Twin Cities. Between homemade pastas and sophisticated platters, you'll quickly understand why 112 consistently ends up on readers' choice and best restaurant lists across the metro -- and beyond. Be sure to save room for dessert, where each of the $7 sweets are a bullseye.
Pizza Luce
119 N. 4th St.
Minneapolis, MN 55401
(612) 333-7359
Directory | Website
The pizza at Luce successfully combines authentic with creative. Whether you're in the mood for a classic pie or like to experiment with toppings -- try the Shrimp Al Pesto or Pizza Lupe -- this trendy pizza joint has been pleasing the late-night crowd for years. This is not your ordinary pizza joint -- with a mix of hoagies, salads and pasta, the ingredients bring this place beyond the slices. Hours vary by location, but most stay open beyond 2 a.m.
Wakame Sushi
3070 Excelsior Blvd. #206
Minneapolis, MN 55416
(612) 886-2484
Directory | Website
Wakame's late-night happy hour is not to be missed. With a mix of nigiri, apps and maki rolls -- all for happy hour prices -- between 9:30 p.m. and midnight, this is definitely one of my top spots for late-night dining. The sushi is fresh, and the rolls are classic yet full of quality. And for many under $5, how can you go wrong?
Barbette
1600 W. Lake St.
Minneapolis, MN 55408
(612) 827-5710
Directory | Website
Barbette Restaurant and Amusements prides itself on organic and locally-produced ingredients but the customers seem to focus more on the great tastes coming out of the kitchen. The late-night menu features small plates, "amusements" and decadent entrees, like the Steak au Poivre or the "Pulp Fiction"-inspired Royale with Cheese. The cooking keeps rolling until 12:30 a.m.
Saffron
123 N. 3rd St.
Minneapolis, MN 55401
(612) 746-5533
Directory | Website
Follow the spice trail to Saffron Restaurant and Lounge, where an Iron Chef competitor calls this kitchen home. Here, the so-called "bar food" on the late-night menu is far from food served in a bar, though the prices are probably the closest to that description. For just $3.50, diners can sink their teeth into some of feta fondue and fries or spiced potato samosas with cucumber yogurt. Heck, for $3.50 you might as well try them all. The late-night Happy Hour is offered Fridays and Saturdays from 11 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Chino Latino
2916 Hennepin Ave.
Minneapolis, MN 55408
(612) 824-7878
Directory | Website
The late-night menu at Chino Latino is about as diverse as the crowd. From 10:30 p.m. to midnight, Sunday through Thursday, guests can feast on everything from a $3 Mexican pizza to ghoulish French toast of the dead -- made with Meyer's Rum caramel syrup. And don't forget to chase it all down with a donkey punch cocktail.
