Best Driver's Ed Courses In Minnesota

Minnesota has high standards for public safety on the road. The state's Division of Motor Vehicles partners with agencies and public and private organizations to provide comprehensive driver education. This includes schools that have driver training. Those listed here are either BBB accredited and/or have a BBB rating of "A" or higher.

Safeway Driving School

Safeway is a BBB accredited driving school with an A+ rating. Founded in 1969, the school provides driver's education courses to Minnesota teens and adults. The teen driving package includes 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours behind the wheel. Driver training instructors are fully licensed. Often they are former law enforcement officers and certified school teachers. The curriculum, modeled from the AAA driver's education program, has approval from the Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety. Safeway is also fully bonded, licensed and insured in the state of Minnesota. The school's road instruction places emphasis on defensive driving under different road conditions, as well as basic motor vehicle skills.

Midway Driving School has a BBB rating of A+. In addition to Twin Cities, the school services Duluth, Rochester and other surrounding areas. For over 30 years, Midway has given adults individualized private driving instruction. The emphasis is on building confidence, handling different road situations and preparation for the driver's license test. Lessons and schedules are flexible. The school offers discounted behind-the-wheel packages and single driving lessons. Midway also has free pickup service for students in Twin Cities, Duluth and Rochester, cars for the driver's road test and ESL experts to assist foreign students.

In addition to Burnsville, 1st Class Driving School has locations at high schools in Lakeville and Farmington. Both BBB accredited and rated A+ for classroom and driver instruction. The school's driver education classes are designed around student schedules. Students who have completed classroom instructions at their high school get a discount on behind-the-wheel training. The classroom curriculum is state approved. The school's instructors are state certified and undergo intensive background screening, including an FBI background check.

Located in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Alamo Driving School services a number of surrounding areas. The school has driving programs for teens and adults. The driver education program consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training seven days per week. Lessons include online driving simulation to better acquaint students with the road before they step into a vehicle. The school customizes road training to the student's driving experience and confidence level. All instructors are required to be screened and trained.

Serving Twin Cities metro and other Minnesota areas, Ace Driving School has both classroom and behind-the-wheel instruction. Ace customizes behind-the-wheel training to the student's driving experience. The behind-the-wheel curriculum is comprehensive. All classroom and driving instruction is designed to meet or surpass the standards of the Minnesota Dept. of Public Safety and comply with the state's driving regulations. The school has vehicles for the state license road test, bilingual instruction and free pickup and drop-off services at convenient student locations.
