$5,000 Reward Offered In Duluth Copper Wiring Theft

DULUTH, Minn. (WCCO) -- A $5,000 reward has been offered to anyone who can offer information leading to an arrest after approximately $40,000 worth of copper wiring from a Duluth construction site.

The St. Louis County Board says the wiring was stolen from the Haines Road reconstruction project on March 11, the day that blasting was set to begin at the site.

"We were lucky that the theft didn't delay the project, but it could have," said Public Works Committee commissioner Mike Forsman.

In all, the thief or thieves made off with about 1,200 feet of wiring, which was stolen from three different pieces of equipment.

Anyone with knowledge of the crime is asked to contact Duluth Police at 218-730-5160.
