Authorities said two people were hurt early Tuesday morning during a home invasion in northern Minnesota, and two suspects are in custody. The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office responded to a reported home invasion at about 12:13 a.m. Tuesday on the 200 block of West Second Avenue in Aurora.
A top aide to congresswoman Michele Bachmann has been arrested and charged with thefts that took place in a House office building. A spokesman for the U.S. Capitol Police says 37-year-old Javier Sanchez of Virginia was arrested last Thursday. Sanchez was a senior legislative assistant to Bachmann, a Minnesota Republican. Her office is in the Rayburn office building, where police say the thefts took place. Sanchez has been charged with theft of money or goods less than $1,000 in value.
A White Bear Lake woman who was banned from her home for harassing her neighbors will not spend any more time behind bars for now. Lori Christensen, 49, pleaded guilty Monday to a felony charge for violating a harassment restraining order back in May 2012. The order was issued to keep her from bothering Greg and Kim Hoffman, who lived across the street. She was caught videotaping the family later that month. Two other felony charges were dropped Monday as part of a plea deal that includes community service, fines, and 10 years of probation.
Authorities in Colorado have made an arrest in the murder of 51-year woman with Minnesota ties. According to the Wheat Ridge Police Department, 54-year-old Melissa Miller was arrested Monday for the murder of Leann Meyer, whose remains were found near a cabin in Park County, Colo. on July 4. Miller is being held without bond at the Park County Detention Facility. Meyer had family in St. Peter, Minn.
