Senate passes bill to end government shutdown, House vote up next

The Senate has passed a bill to end the nation’s longest government shutdown, sending it to the House for approval. The measure would fund the government through the end of January, reverse federal worker layoffs, and guarantee back pay. It also extends SNAP benefits for a full year. At a Veterans Day event, President Trump praised Republican leaders after eight Democrats joined them in supporting the package.
