The federal trial for a former Miami congressman is set to begin Monday after he was accused of secretly lobbying for Venezuela’s government during President Donald Trump’s first administration. Prosecutors say former Rep. David Rivera had a secret $50 million contract with a Venezuelan-owned company to convince U.S. leaders to drop sanctions against the country in 2017.
