A study, published Thursday in the journal Science, found that 22% of butterflies in the United States disappeared between 2000 and 2020.
Using laser scans and GPS cameras, accurate down to one inch, the U.S. Geological Survey has so far mapped more than 600 landslides caused by Hurricane Helene.
The U.S. Geological Survey tested tap water from 716 locations nationwide over five years.
Lava flows have been observed on the surface of the volcano's crater floor, officials said, as the eruption began early in the morning.
