Voters Decide 3 Commission Seats In Broward County
FT. LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - The Broward County Commission saw only three seats up for election, but only one of the three seats, District 4 was a close race.
District 4 saw Chip LaMarca knock off Ken Keechl, despite garnering only 50 percent of the overall vote. It proved to be the closest race in the Commission race. Interestingly enough, LaMarca is the Broward Commission's only Republican, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
In District 6, Democrat Sue Gunzberger easily beat back the challenge of Russel Setti. Gunzberger captured 72 percent of the vote at the end of the night. Gunzberger held a decided fund-raising advantage over Setti, who was looking to capitalize on the anti-incumbent feel. However, he couldn't overcome Gunzberger and her 18 years of service.
Finally, District 8 saw Democrat Barbara Sharief easily knock off Republican Max Ziadie. Sharief has also served as a Miramar City Commissioner. She won almost 2/3 of the vote, capturing roughly 34,480 votes by the end of the night.
