PLANTATION (CBSMiami) - Police filled the parking lot of the government center in Plantation after a woman's body was found about 8:45 a.m. Police don't yet know who she was or how she died, but they are calling the death suspicious.
The woman was found in a parking lot at 1 North University Drive on Sunday morning.
Maria Ratliff, lives nearby. "Oh my God, oh my God, it's scary isn't it," she said.
Neighbors in the area said they're surprised to hear about a suspicious death.
"It's pretty peaceful here, this is Plantation," said Ruben Holschauer.
"This is a lovely area," added Ratliff. "Plantation, this is the best the best of Ft. Lauderdale."
Investigators said the cause of the woman's death wasn't immediately obvious.
"There's a little bit of facial trauma, but nothing significant," Detective Philip Toman with Plantation Police Department told CBS4.
She had no identification and police said no money in her pockets.
"I know there was a piece of jewelry found close to her, whether it was hers or not I don't know," said Toman.
The woman who died is described as white, possibly Latin, with dark hair. She was approximately 5 feet 4 inches tall, 130-145 pounds. She appeared to be 35 to 45-years-old and was wearing brown pants, a cream colored blouse, and black flats. She also had several tattoos and a nose ring.
"We're trying to identify her. Since we don't have any ID on her or anything at this point in time, we're hoping maybe someone reported her missing," Toman added.
While police worked to figure out who she was and what happened, neighbors said they're sorry to hear about the death.
