UM Loses DT Forston For Season

MIAMI ( – The Miami Hurricanes starting defense struggled against inferior competition this year. Now, the Canes defense has a massive hole at defensive tackle.

The Canes announced Thursday that starting defensive tackle Marcus Forston will miss the remainder of the season due to a knee injury. Forston injured his knee on a non-contact play.

He's the second defensive starter lost this week. Starting linebacker Ramon Buchanan suffered a season-ending knee injury during last Saturday's win over Bethune-Cookman.

Forston was one of the eight players suspended for Miami's opening game this season for receiving impermissible benefits from former booster Nevin Shapiro.

The heralded recruit has struggled since returning this season, managing just five tackles on the season. He's battled health issues ever since coming to the U.

The defensive tackle was in danger of losing his starting spot for this weekend's game against Virginia Tech. He was listed as co-starter along with former defensive end Adewale Ojomo.

Ojomo weighs just 265 pounds, roughly 35 pounds less than Forston, but he said his size won't be a detriment to his position. He'll be lined up against a Virginia Tech offensive line that has players with weights from 295 to 326.
