Two-Time Murderer Who Killed Roommate Gets Life Term
MIAMI (CBSMiami) — A man convicted of murder twice is going to prison yet again.
A judge made sure he won't be getting out.
CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald reports Eric McDade, 40, of Miami, must serve life in prison for fatally stabbing his roommate, Erica Scott, in June 2010, a judge ruled Thursday.
McDade previously served 12 years of a 22-year sentence for the 1995 shooting death of a Broward woman. He had only been out of prison 18 months when he killed Scott, Miami-Dade prosecutor Taylor Olson told the judge Thursday.
McDade and Scott worked together at Shorty's barbecue restaurant. After the killing, McDade went on the lam and was captured at a North Carolina bamboo farm.
A Miami-Dade jury in August convicted McDade of second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
